50 States of Shame
I started this project back in 2003 when I started getting really sad about all the LGBTQ+ people getting murdered at an alarming rate. I started clipping articles and saving them but then just got tucked into a box and I never really saw them again. So one day I decided to make an altered book and start saving them in there, as the book developed I noticed that I had stories from almost every state in America. That is how "50 States of Shame" came about. I find it incredible sad that even today in 2020 LGBTQ+ are still getting murdered in an alarming rate, the most vulnerable are trans women of color. We have to find a way to do better for these women and all LGBTQ+ people. The project feels like it will never be finished but I am ready to share with all who wants to see it. I have made a video to explain some parts of the project and show some of the pages I have been working on for over 17 years now. I am going to finish the project by the end of this year, that is the goal anyway. I will also add detail pics of the pages as I finish them so check back to see those updates.
